Young, yes, but not new to firearms
Mar 31, 2025
As THE firearms instructor for Trusted Training LLC, I've observed a noticeable shift in the behavior of many young adults interested in firearm safety. While they are not new to firearms and have likely handled or used them before, they approach training with a sense of humility and awareness that they don’t know everything. This openness to further education is something we, as instructors and responsible citizens, should truly appreciate.
These young adults recognize that firearm safety, skills, and knowledge are ongoing journeys. The acknowledgment that no matter how much experience one has, there is always more to learn, is a mindset that benefits the individual and the community. As instructors, it is our duty to highlight and encourage this behavior. It’s vital that we foster an environment where seeking out additional training, whether through a professional instructor or a seasoned firearms enthusiast, is seen as a responsible and admirable choice.
We must support and encourage those who are actively taking steps to improve their skills and knowledge, as this commitment to growth ensures a safer firearms community. I urge all of us, whether instructors or citizens, to recognize the value in lifelong learning. By continuing to educate ourselves and others, we create a safer and more responsible firearms culture for everyone. Let’s actively support anyone choosing to enhance their firearm safety knowledge and skills, and help make the practice of seeking continued training the standard in our communities.
